Things are not always what they seem. Few people know that large parts of the splendorous Gothic district that we see nowadays are in fact a relatively recent recreation.

Despite the impressive Gothic masterpieces, the truth is that back in the XIX century, the city of Barcelona wanted to recover the forgotten glow of a sombre neighborhood through massive restoration projects, the physical displacement of buildings and also the creation of brand new Neo-gothic works.

These efforts succeeded in transforming the then forgotten neighborhood into a more attractive place.
