The Romanesque Barcelona

Where has all the Romanesque architecture of Barcelona gone? Through this exciting tour, we will discover the Middle Ages and come to understand why we know so little about the city´s ancient construction.

Barcelona was heavily influenced by the impact of the feudalization process and the increasing maritime trade. It was because of this the city maintained and strengthened its political, religious and commercial role. Gradually, the urban growth was marked by the emergence of the suburbs and the "new Villas" and, simultaneously, the emergence of the nobility. We will visit some of the most unique and hidden spaces that have lasted until today, including the monasteries of Sant Pau del Camp, Sant Pere de les Puelles or the chapels of St. Bernt Marcus or Santa Llúcia.

Roman legacy left behind buildings hidden in the Gothic where we will both explore and learn the stories of the time they were built.
