Sants Neighborhood

Sants is the largest, most populated and oldest neighborhood in this district. It originated along the Old Road, with a parish dedicated to St. Bartholomew. Barcelona Market was filled with wheat, grapes, vegetables and meat produced in here until the construction of the New Road in the late eighteenth century.

Then the great leap forward came during the second half of the nineteenth century with the installation of large steamers, the construction of the railway, and a highway leading to many commercial sectors.

Today we find a quasi-autonomous area with a very strong business that makes it known to many citizens.
